E-Generation

E-Generation

The recession in the U.S has caused many folks to stop or slow down their purchasing habits. As far as the automobile industry, they have received bi hits due to the fact that consumers are looking for smaller & economic cars. However, there have been studies stating that the automobile industry is being affected by generation Y.

It has been said that generation Y is hurting the automobile industry because students are now communicating, working, and studying online. Given so, generation Y Is not in need for automobiles or any type of transportation products.

Is this online habit going to start affecting airline tickets, hotels, etc? I believe so. If a junior executive is conducting work from home then he/she probably doesn’t need to travel and stay in a hotel. They can just work from home.

I do believe that there is a line that we can’t cross. As far as senior executive work, not all the work can be completed online. There has to be a personal relationship that will probably need traveling and hotel expenses.

The lack of face-to-face interaction between government agencies and the people they serve

The lack of face-to-face interaction between government agencies and the people they serve

The internet has been a revolutionary technology that has helped millions of people, businesses, and government facilitate communications and has been a great tool when it comes to time management; however, I am a little sketchy when it comes to having an online community that only communicates news, ideas, etc directly with the government.

I strongly believe that the lack of face-to-face interaction between government agencies and the people they serve will end up causing miscommunication between the government and the people they serve.

.GOV is a sponsored top level domain registered to the US government. This means that anything that uses the .gov at the end of the domain is linked to the Government.
The government is going virtual and I think that we need to be careful with what the future holds as far as having an online government network, were decisions are discussed and voting is made.

E-commerce

In today’s world, Ecommerce is revolutionizing how we shop online. Companies such as buy.com have to think of ways on how to connect with online consumers in order to have a successful, loyal consumer. As I searched online for a site that used distinctive techniques that would attract and maintain active consumers, I came across Buy.com.

Buy.com is a company that sells a wide range of products to consumers every day. So how and why is Buy.com differentiating itself from the competition? As I looked over their page I noticed that this company had a theme that related to consumers. I noticed that their design (colors, overlay, etc) was very eco friendly. It also had a neat design and the page didn’t attack the consumer with 29482847 products that are jumping out of the screen. The page is subdivided into sections and ahs a quick search bar at the top. I noticed that buy.com had a deal of the day special. This is something that I thought it was very clever. Consumer now a days are looking for deals and having a special deal of the day each day makes consumers wonder what today’s special is. Furthermore,  I saw that Buy.com offered FREE SHIPPING in a lot of products.

After looking at this successful ecommerce business I realized that in order to have a successful eBusiness, one must differentiate itself from the competition. You must be user friendly and have a strong connection with you clientele.

A strong business plan should always be implemented and you should always try to offer as many products/services as possible.

Successful businesses come from planning and experience!

Treat your consumers with respect and they will always be loyal to your site.

One Flight Ticket Away

Brazil is the largest country in South America and the fifth largest in the world. There are a total of  nine countries where Portuguese is spoken: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome.

As a Brazilian culture lover, I have had the opportunity to emerge in to the Brazilian culture through study abroad programs at Florida International University. My most recent trip was to a city called Belo Horizonte which happens to be the capital and the largest city of the state of Mina Gerais.

The BH (Belo Horizonte) study abroad program was incredible! I got to travel to beautiful city’s that carry enormous history, art, and culture. I also went to school at the University of BH UNA. My classes were all related to the Portuguese language; classes such as grammar, writing, communication, history, and culture are always offered and accredited by FIU.

So how was Brazil different to the US? Well, being a developing country, Brazil has more puberty than the US, however, Brazil’s economy has been growing for the past years. It is now being compared with countries such as china, US, and other top countries.

If you ever have the time to visit Brazil I recommend you stop by BH; A city full of culture, nightlife and GREAT PEOPLE.

You may click away but you won't be able to hide

You may click away but you won't be able to hide

Day by day companies are trying to target as many consumers as possible; however, since we are still working on getting out from an “economic recession” companies have to allocate their total budget in a clever way. Public Relations and Marketing departments are experiencing budget cuts and are one of the first departments that get affected when an economic crisis occurs. Given so, Marketing departments have been forced to come up with new ways on reaching the proper audience.

One of these ways has been by executing Behavioral Advertisement campaigns. Behavioral Advertisement, also known as Behavioral Targeting is a technique that companies use in order to increase a particular campaign effectiveness.

So how does it work? Basically, companies try to figure out what each particular consumer likes buying. This is all done by collecting information on an individual’s web browsing data. In other words, if you are a person who likes running shoes and is always looking for good deals and new products, mostly all of the pop-ups you will get will be regarding sports, running, shoes, socks, etc.

Is this good or bad? Well, this all depends on you. Some people argue that allowing companies to have access to your browsing data is violating ones privacy rights. On the other hand, some online consumers would love to have online advertisement of their interest instead of an ad that doesn’t relate to them.
Solution: A logo that can be easily accessible to anyone who doesn’t want companies to go through their browsing history and violate their privacy. The big question is whether or not consumers would recognize the logo and know the purpose of the logo that could be used to protect their privacy.

You can’t see me, but I can see you

You can’t see me, but I can see you

Imagine it’s a Sunday morning and you have nothing to do at home, you then proceed to grab your macbook and the start observing customers who are walking in and out of a convenience, retail, or grocery store. Five minutes later you see a customer who grand a pair of shoes and steals them. Immediately you press a red sign located at the top of your screen. Ten seconds later, you get paid X amount of dollars.
This is what a company known as Internet Eyes is trying to prevent stores from being shoplifted. Internet Eyes is a company that is looking for your services, services that will help stores, shops, etc reduce their shoplifting percentage. The company supposedly pays you every time you notice and report a crime that could be happening 500 miles away.

After further research I noticed that this was too good to be true. Apparently the company has a HUGE applications process, were you need to provide personal information such as address, telephone numbers, etc. After you have spent hours applying to be “Internet Eyes”, you then are ask to pay for their services!
At this time you realize that this is never going to work. First you have to pay in order to get paid. If you pay, you still need to catch a crime and I’m pretty sure you may need to catch several crimes in order to break even.

This whole concept seems fun to do but I believe is not worth the time. You could spend anywhere from 1 min – 10 days just spotting a crime. If you divide the time you’ve spend by the amount you will get paid, you will then find out that you will be earning much more money by working at McDonalds.

I believe that companies should just increase security in their stores. One would think that huge retail stores like Publix would prefer trusting an expert rather than someone in the other side of the world that probably doesn’t care about their store.

The "New World" is Here!

These past years technology has been improving day by day. We know relay on technology in our everyday life. Scientist, professors, economists, etc are now expecting technology to help them achieve their everyday responsibilities.

In my opinion, signs of a “new world” were given to us when public internet was opened to the public. Through the past years internet has become a NEED in our every day lives. Personally I can say that my days wouldn’t be the same if I couldn’t access my Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, and youtube account.
Businesses such as Blockbuster are now filing for bankruptcy because of technology. However, I do believe the world will be changing every day and “old” businesses who don’t know how to adapt to this new world changes will suffer and will be more vulnerable for bankruptcy. On the other hand, new businesses are growing every day. Examples such as Facebook who is now a powerhouse business is a great example of the importance of “following the flow”.

Few months back I started to analyze how the grocery shopping maker started changing and adjusting to technology and internet-media. Online stores such as BUY.COM have started selling products from golf balls to toilet paper. Buy.com has adapted to the online community by offering free shipping in some of their products. They also have a “deal of the day” with a discounted daily price in order to attract new customers.

In conclusion, I believe that stores that are utilizing their internet media to its full capacity are ready for the “new world”. These companies have dealt with change and are now ready to serve the consumers everyday needs. Personally, I am all for these changes. The internet is a great tool that should help you complete your goals and needs quicker and easier.
